Winter is just around the corner!
Does large trees, spacious lots, a well maintained neighborhood, shopping mall, parks, restaurants, and entertainment all located only 10 to 15 minutes from downtown and SOCO appeal to you?

The Colonial Trails neighborhood is located in the 78745 zip code; definitely a hot, up and coming area. There is easy access to IH 35, South Congress and downtown Austin. It is the ideal location for the SOCO Shopping, live music and South Congress. This area is growing in leaps and bounds with the revitalization of South Congress. Many people are buying homes in this area; because of the close proximity to the trendy and more expensive 78704 zip code.
This is definitely a unique area and lives by the motto “Keep Austin Weird.”

Remember seeing the “Cow Art” all over Austin last year? Well, this project really touched my heart, because the benefits went to the Superhero Kids Fund at Dell Children’s Medical Center. The fund helps children with cancer and their families; providing money to help with the quality of life, and a variety of things, while the child is undergoing treatment.
There were 60 “Cows” auctioned off last year and almost $150 million dollars was raised for the Dell Fund. The Cow Parade Honorary Chairwoman was Austin’s own Lucy Baines Johnson. She purchased the Vince Young Championship Longhorn for $150,000!
I took photos of several of the cow statues on the Lamar corridor, around 5th and 6th street mostly. It started with me taking a “Cow” photo on my phone at the corner of Lamar and Riverside; when I went to walk on Lady Bird Lake with friends. Then I began to look for more and had great fun tracking them down.
I saw another cow by the Amy’s Ice Cream on South Lamar last week, so I will need to start carrying my camera with me again!
If would like more information about the children’s fund check out Superherokids.org
I hope you enjoy looking at the photos as much as I did taking them!

I would like to introduce Poncho. He is newest furry member to the Stalik family. Poncho is a rescue dog and belongs to my son Chris and his wife, Kristy.
Unfortunately, he was diagnosed with heart worms, but he seems to be responding well to treatment. He is a great dog and really seems to love the water.
Do you have a place in your home for a pet? There are so many special animals that need homes. Call or go by one of the animal shelters and find a special friend waiting to love you.
My family has always treated our pets as members of our family. One of the things I get very passionate about is caring for and loving our pets. Check back often for information updates, photos and ideas.
