Dell Children’s Medical Center

Remember seeing the “Cow Art” all over Austin last year?  Well, this project really touched my heart, because the benefits went to the Superhero Kids Fund at Dell Children’s Medical Center. The fund helps children with cancer and their families; providing money to help with the quality of life, and a variety of things, while the child is undergoing treatment.

There were 60 “Cows” auctioned off last year and almost $150 million dollars was raised for the Dell Fund. The Cow Parade Honorary Chairwoman was Austin’s own Lucy Baines Johnson. She purchased the Vince Young Championship Longhorn for $150,000!

I took photos of several of the cow statues on the Lamar corridor, around 5th and 6th street mostly. It started with me taking a “Cow” photo on my phone at the corner of Lamar and Riverside; when I went to walk on Lady Bird Lake with friends. Then I began to look for more and had great fun tracking them down.

I saw another cow by the Amy’s Ice Cream on South Lamar last week, so I will need to start carrying my camera with me again!

I hope you enjoy looking at the photos as much as I did taking them!
